The cast for the live-action Amazon Prime Tomb Raider series has been announced. There’s a plethora of major stars joining the production, including Sigourney Weaver, famous for playing Ellen Ripley in Aliens, and Jason Isaacs, who played Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films. Details about the story are kept under wraps, but it reportedly involves Norse mythology.
Following the announcement of the series’ cast, publication Geek Vibes Nation reported that they have “heard the story will be connected to Norse Mythology and Ragnarok”. The outlet adds, “We have also been told it will not be related to the Tomb Raider Underworld game”.
Norse mythology features fabled gods, such as Thor and Odin, among the Nine Worlds under the sacred tree of Yggdrasil. Ragnarok is Norse mythology’s prophesied end of the world, resulting in the emergence of a new utopia.
Tomb Raider Underworld was released in 2008, and it’s the only instance of Lara Croft embroiled in Norse mythology. In the game, Lara wields Thor’s hammer, Mjölnir, and she ends up in Helheim, Norse mythology’s version of the Underworld.
Story Kitchen, a producer for the show, says that the Amazon Prime series shares the same universe as the Tomb Raider games. This suggests it is part of the unified timeline, starting with the Survivor trilogy as Lara Croft’s canon, followed by the Netflix series, Tomb Raider Legacy of Atlantis, and ending with Tomb Raider Underworld, which is set to be followed by Tomb Raider Catalyst in 2027.
Tomb Raider Amazon Prime series cast
Sophie Turner is cast as Lara Croft in the Amazon Prime series. She recently teased the series as “something special,” and when her casting was announced, Sophie Turner released a statement promising Tomb Raider fans that “Lara is in very safe hands”.
Besides Sophie Turner as Lara Croft, below is the rest of the cast and who they’re playing, outlined by Amazon:
The following cast are confirmed in canon roles from the Tomb Raider video game franchise:

The following cast are confirmed for roles to the Tomb Raider universe:
