Saros pre-orders “likely opening soon” as ratings emerge ahead of The Game Awards

Saros is an upcoming PS5 exclusive from Returnal developer, Housemarque. It is scheduled to release on March 20, 2026. Assuming there are no delays, March of next year is a killer month as it’s flooded with highly anticipated titles such as 007 First Light and Crimson Desert, as well as rumors of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Remake.

Housemarque wants to keep making single-player games “as long as people are buying them,” and Returnal was an amazing experience, receiving a 9/10 in our review. Although it was only announced earlier this year, Saros entered full production in 2022 and has a $76M budget, according to Housemarque CEO Ilari Kuittinen in an interview with Wccftech.

Similar to Returnal, Saros is a third-person action shooter where every death changes the world. However, according to creative director Gregory Louden via the PlayStation Blog, a key distinction for Saros is that after dying, you will be able to “choose and permanently upgrade your loadout from an evolving set of weapons and suit upgrades to ‘come back stronger’ to overcome the challenges you face”.

While Saros is expected at The Game Awards, it’s not expected to be the mysterious demonic statue The Game Awards’ host and founder, Geoff Keighley, is teasing. There is also a slew of other exciting rumors for The Game Awards including a second remake of Tomb Raider 1996 and the potential unveiling of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3.
