Dead By Daylight fans can finally vote on the design of new “divine” Killer

Dead by Daylight has a vast roster of famous licensed Killers and original creations. Vecna from Stranger Things Chapter 2 is joining DBD soon, but Behaviour has also been preparing the arrival of an original Killer decided entirely by the community since June 2025. Players have been able to cast votes on the Killer’s lore and perks through The Grimoire, and now fans can finally vote on the “divine” Killer’s design.

The official Dead by Daylight X account has confirmed that voting for the next stage of The Grimoire begins on January 23 at 8AM PST / 11AM EDT / 4PM GMT. The Grimoire is an interactive book that serves as a community survey, enabling players to create an original Survivor and Killer through a series of votes tied to story details and abilities.

Behind the scenes, Behaviour has been developing the new Killer and Survivor based on the most popular voting results. The project has now reached the concept art stage, and starting today, players can vote on the Killer’s design from three different options.

On Instagram, Behaviour has teased one of the concept art designs, though it’s difficult to make out any details beyond what appear to be angelic wings. This would align with the Killer’s “divine” description, meaning otherworldly and typically heavenly in nature.

Everything we know about The Grimoire Dead by Daylight Killer

There have been over six verses used to shape the future Dead by Daylight Killer and Survivor through The Grimoire. The results so far reveal that the Killer is “divine,” with the full list of descriptions below:

• Verse 2: The Killer is Otherworldly
• Verse 3: A Divine force takes over the Killer
• Verse 4: The Killer was known as the Wielder of Exalted Truths
• Verse 5: The Killer pursues mortals through Torture
• Verse 6: The Killer delivers their truth through their Punishing Heart
• Finale: The Killer’s sin is Unique

There is currently no release date for The Grimoire Chapter, but Behaviour has previously stated that it is planned for 2026.

Looking ahead to the near future, Dead by Daylight Stranger Things Chapter 2 is set to release on January 27. Alongside Vecna as a Killer, the DLC also adds Eleven and Dustin as Survivors. You can still purchase the first Stranger Things Chapter that returned to DBD in 2023 to add Steve Harrington and Nancy Wheeler to your ensemble of Stranger Things Survivors with The Demogorgon as a Killer.

Beyond Stranger Things Chapter 2, we then have the leaked original Survivor releasing in March. Leaks have uncovered that the Survivor is a cursed Samurai and father of DBD Killer, The Oni.

After March, there are no additional chapters until Dead by Daylight moves into Year 11, starting in June. Year 11 marks the game’s 10th anniversary since its release in 2016, and fans are hopeful that long-requested Killers such as Jason from Friday the 13th could finally arrive. There’s also hope for the Predator, despite Behaviour’s public dismissal of Survivors based on characters like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

While Behaviour has not officially revealed plans beyond January, leaks point to the return of a Lunar New Year event in February. There’s also a leaked 2026 roadmap up until June.
